CSBG is administered through the Department of Health and Human Services/Administration for Children & Families/Office of Community Services under Title II of the Coats Human Services Reauthorization Act of 1998, passed by the 105th Congress of the United States.  The law authorized appropriations annually for the years 1999 through 2003.  The law has been up for reauthorization since then, and the program has been operating under congressional Continuing Resolutions (CR's) up to the present time.

The Deparment of Health and Human Services contracts with the National Association of State Community Service Providers (NASCSP) for annual outcomes data.  NASCSP, in turn, provides reporting forms and technical assistance to the states.

At the state level, the Department of Commerce, through its Community Services Division/Community Economic Opportunity Unit administers the CSBG block grant funds.  We maintain state CSBG Policies and Procedures.
